## When OpenText may be a better fit

- Organizations still running GroupWise as their email backbone — OpenText owns GroupWise (the former Novell email platform) and archives it natively alongside Exchange and Microsoft 365, which may suit organizations still running it.
- Large enterprise IT or legal teams managing archiving across email, collaboration platforms, and regulatory data under a single enterprise contract where GroupWise or OpenText eDiscovery is already in the stack

## Two Different Definitions of AI Governance

OpenText offers Sovereign AI: AI search and summarization running inside a dedicated private cloud instance, with customer-controlled encryption keys and data that stays within national borders. That is a meaningful capability for organizations that want to use AI without sending data to shared infrastructure.

Comma's AI governance capability is different in kind. Arc captures the conversations employees have with AI platforms (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini) and archives them as regulatory records the same way a business communication would be archived. The question Arc addresses is not "how do we run AI securely" but "if a regulator asks to see every prompt and response your traders sent to an AI tool last quarter, can you produce them?" Those are separate problems.

## The iMessage Gap

OpenText's documented channel list includes WhatsApp, Signal, WeChat, and Telegram but does not list iMessage. For broker-dealers and RIAs, iMessage is not an edge case; it is the default messaging app on every iPhone, and SEC enforcement actions naming iMessage as an unarchived channel have resulted in hundreds of millions in fines. Firms that conduct business over iMessage may need additional controls if that channel is not captured.

## Infrastructure Ownership vs. Third-Party Dependency

Comma's WhatsApp and Signal capture code is published on GitHub. The architecture is documented and open to inspection. There is no third-party mobile capture provider in the path.

OpenText's mobile capture has historically integrated with TeleMessage for Signal, WhatsApp, and other mobile channels. We could not find current public documentation describing whether that architecture has changed following TeleMessage's acquisition and service suspension.
